(Garmin will no longer provide updates for the non-NT version, so the switch to NT has to be made for future upgrades). This is an upgrade product that will only upgrade a previous NT version. I was also able to purchase a 2G Sandisk memory card that allows me to install the entire US map. I installed the full NY version on my Garmin 60CSX and it is working well. Unfortunately, my original version was not NT. Fortunately, I was able to swap this for the full NT (i.e., non-upgrade) version with Garmin.
ONCE THE INFORMATION IS DOWNLOADED TO THE GPS, IT WILL NOT DOWNLOAD TO ANOTHER GPS. IT DOESN'T WORK. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO WORK FOR ONLY ONE GPS.
I WAS UPSET, THAT I CAN'T UPDATE ALL OF MY (4) GARMINS WITH THIS CD, IT WON'T TAKE WITHOUT A NEW KEY. IT'S ANOTHER WAY GARMIN GETS YOU, I BOUGHT MALL MY GARMINS NEW, AND THEY ALL HAD OUTDATED MAPS.
It was worth the money in my case because I bought my GPS new, but with an older map set loaded, but I'm not sure I will update again given that decent GPS units can be purchased for about $40 more now. I've noticed some improvements since my update, but I was going from 2006 vervion to this, so I should have. Running the update was easy and I didn't have Mapsource on my computer prior to this, so I have been able to play with that and find some new tricks.
It was a much needed update to keep abreast of the changing roads/signs. I noticed recently that a route that was not previously on the Garmin suddenly was given as an option after I installed the map updates.
